Nasser Osman - Percussionist & Traditional Saiidi Arts Nasser Osman, director of the Shabeyya Band is a talented Saiidi Percussionist from Upper Egypt. His rhythms are used in traditional arts such as the Tahktib (Martial art cane dance preformed by Male warriors). During the festival, the Saiidi Documentary will be screened, featuring Nasser Osman and members of his band. The Shaabeya Band with musicians from Luxor, Qena and Sohag in Upper Egypt, share their music, rhythms and stories. Learn about the rhythms used in Saiidi and Egyptian traditional songs plus the various stories and folkloric traditions that accompany them. |

Nasser teaches a simple series of steps, turns and lunges performed with the wooden stick or "tahktib"!
